Student Support KS3-Y7 Support

Year 7 is a very important year and a series of induction and team building activities, as well as a mentoring programme, are planned to help with the transition into the Senior School.

There is a dedicated Head of Year 7 who looks after their pastoral needs and monitors their academic progress. The Head of Year arranges for extra support both for their academic and emotional needs, where necessary.

Each student is valued as an individual and the Pastoral system aims at developing each student to their full potential: academically, emotionally and socially.

The students are divided into three form groups and are looked after by their Form Tutor who sees them each day at morning and afternoon registration.

There is regular communication with parents and a series of meetings are organised to keep parents informed of their children’s progress and other important issues.

There is a PSHE programme delivered through assemblies and individual lessons, which deal with issues such as bullying, internet safety, responsibility, relationships, nutrition, and healthy eating.

With the support of the Head of Year 7 and the Form Tutors, the students are encouraged to take part in the wider school community, which includes fund raising, assembly presentations and trips.
