Year 2 Routines & Expectations

School begins at 7.45a.m every day where the children gather in the playground. When the whistle blows, they line up and their teacher collects them from the playground and walks them into the classroom.

The school day ends at 1.00p.m. The Year 2 children are accompanied to the back pupil entrance where they wait with their teachers to be picked up by their parents. If they are not collected by 1.10pm they are sent to the basketball court which is supervised until 1.30pm. Children that go to afternoon supervision, go home on the bus or attend afternoon activities are sent to their designated areas. The class teacher should be made aware of any changes to your child’s end of day routine.

All children should be provided with a healthy morning snack and a drink. It is also advisable that in warm weather, children bring to school 2 bottles of water. The children can also purchase a snack or drink from the school canteen after Christmas. Please make sure that your child’s snack is nut free due to allergies.

Full school uniform must be worn at all times except on P.E. day. Trainers must only be worn when the children have P.E. All items of clothing must be named.

Homework is sent home on a Tuesday and returned to school the following Monday. Reading should take place on a daily basis at home. Spelling tests are carried out every Monday.

Children should remember to bring to school their contact folders and reading books every day.

Art aprons should be kept in school for when needed. These must be named and they will be returned home at the end of every term to be washed.
