Sports Captains

The PE department has introduced four Sports Captains from Year 10 students to represent their houses. The role of the Sports Captains is very rewarding for everyone involved. It helps build good citizenship and is therefore committed to developing the ethos of volunteering and the building of collaborative working and leadership skills across the entire school community of staff and students. The students help run and organise the Sports Day, Inter-school Competitions and some After-school Clubs.

The Sports Captains for 2016-2017 are as follows:

Glafkos Raphael

Michalis Demetriou

Constantinos Rossides

Sara Nicolic

Extra-Curricular Activities

The PE department offers a wide range of extra-curricular activities to both boys and girls. These activities offer opportunities for our students to develop and extend their interests and skills, not only from participation, but also from officiating and coaching. Students will have the opportunity to compete individually and in teams and possibly to be selected to play matches against other schools. During the academic year the department will be offering these recreational and sporting clubs.

  • Duke of Edinburgh Award
  • Volleyball
  • Table tennis
  • Tennis
  • Cross-fit
  • Basketball

Hall of Fame

We are proud to have students representing the National Teams of Cyprus; currently two in archery and one in football.

In 2014 Andrea Mavrommatis gained the highest possible GSCE PE grade for Cyprus

In 2015 Elysa Ioannou gained an A in A-Level PE and is now studying at the Loughborough PE University.

Sports Day

We decided that this year, students will participate only in year groups (except the relays) because we wanted the students to set school records that can be held for many years. Every student in the school did sign up for at least one event, the most popular was the walking race, who would of thought that! However, most events did have students participating and it was good to see them setting a school record on our new athletic track. All the records for the event are available to see either on facebook or in the link below.
