What is the application Process
- You can apply by completing the on-line Entrance Application Form from our web-site: www.thejuniorandseniorschool.com. This also allows you to pay online.
- Sending all enclosures listed on the last page of the Entrance Application Form.
- You may also pay 200 euros application Fee through JCC Smart or at the Finance Office.
- As soon as all above are received, your child’s application will be entered on the subsequent Junior School Waiting List according to the date of payment.
- For the Senior School there is a designated date for the Year 7 Entrance Examination.
Are children assessed?
- Yes, all children are assessed, apart from the Early Years 1 children.
When are children assessed?
- Children applying for Early Years 2, Early Years 3 and Reception are assessed during the month of November prior to the year of application.
- All other children are assessed upon availability.
- The Year 7 entrance examination is usually held in March but the date is dictated by the Ministry of Education
What Curriculum is followed by the school?
- The School follows The English National Curriculum for all subjects apart from Greek.
- For Greek we follow the Ministry of Education of Cyprus Curriculum.
How many children are in each class?
- 16 children in Early Years 1.
- 22 children in Early Years 2.
- 24 children in all other classes.
- In GCSE and A level classes numbers are usually lower
How many classes in each year group?
- All Year groups have 4 classes apart from Early Years 1 and 2 with 2 and Early Years 3 with 3.
How many members of Staff do you have in each class?
- In Key Stage 1 (KS1 – Early Years 1 to Year 2) we have a teacher and a Learning Support Assistant (LSA).
- In Key Stage 2 (KS2 – Year 3 – 6), we have one teacher and a floating LSA between two classes.
- In Key Stage 3-5 we have one teacher per class but we also have a Learning Hub where students can receive additional support.
What are the hours of the School?
- Early Years 1 7:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
- Early Years 2 and 3, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 7:50 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
- Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 7:50 a.m. – 1:10 p.m.
- Year 7 to Y13 8:05 a.m. – 2:20p.m.
Is there any Afternoon Activities?
- Year 1 and Year 2 have Afternoon Activities every day until 1:50 p.m.
- Year 3 until Year 6 have Afternoon Activities every day until 2:25 p.m.
- Year 7 until Year 13 have Clubs until 3:30p.m.
What choices do children have during the Afternoon Activities programme?
- We have a vast number of Afternoon Activities including, Football, Basketball, Tennis, Hockey, Cricket, Athletics, Karate, Dance, Choir, Orchestra, French, Chinese, and Russian etc.
Is Supervision offered?
Supervision is offered from Early Years 2 until Year 6 at an extra cost (specific information under Admissions)
- Morning supervision is from 7:00 -7:50 a.m.
- And afternoon supervision is from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.
- KS3-5 students may arrive at school from 7am but are not supervised until 8. After school there is supervision for the completion of homework until 3.30
Is there a Bus Service?
- There is an independent Bus company which transfers the children from door to door.
- There is also a shuttle bus which takes children from The Junior School to The Senior School and back. There is also a pickup and drop off at Jumbo, K-Cineplex and from Aglantzia.
Is there a Canteen?
- There is a canteen where parents can pre-order snacks and meals for their children or from Year 2 and above children can buy their own snacks on both sites.
Do you have a nurse?
- We have full-time qualified nurses for both The Junior and Senior School Campuses.
